About Bandhavgarh

Nestled in the heart of India, Madhya Pradesh, Bandhavgarh National Park is known for the highest density of Tiger population in India. It is one of the most important wildlife preserves in India.

The unique blend of steep and rocky hills with flat tops and contrasting level grasslands in the valleys below, cover an area of 1170 km², attracting hundreds of wildlife enthusiasts. The vegetation found within the Park is moist, deciduous forests with towering Sal trees complementing the bamboo stretches, meadows and fresh grasslands.

This combination makes the perfect recipe transforming the region into a home of 22 species of mammals and another 250 rare species of birds – a feast for the birdwatcher's eyes.

If you want to be enthralled by the sight of Tigers and Leopards, Bandhavgarh, White Tiger territory, will welcome you with open arms. In addition to that, this region has been harboring rare and fabulous flora and fauna for centuries, hushed between the deciduous forests.

Enveloping the deciduous forests, are the four Bandhavgarh hills that still whisper secrets of the Rewa Royalty. The Royalty enjoyed their leisure time in their Game Reserve, traces of which can still be observed today, now better known as Bandhavgarh National Park.

The Bandhavgarh fort, home to the Maharajas of Rewa, provides the best view of the national park. You can also get to see black bucks grazing around the fort. At 800 meters, the fort offers kaleidoscopic spectacles of the entire wildlife preserve.

You can tune the right cosmic connection with the country's glorious cultural heritage by visiting several cave shrines in the park displaying Brahmi inscriptions that date back to as early as the first century B.C. The scenic Charana Ganga stream, believed to originate from the Charana (feet) of Lord Vishnu, as it flows through the park giggling at the statues, temples and many captivating cave shrines will surely transport you back in time.
